What if the Spritz was dethroned by the Mai Tai cocktail?

No more Spritz and Mojito, we want something new! That's good, what seems to be the Mai Tai is THE cocktail to enjoy this summer!
Mai Tai, the "best in the world" cocktail
One could easily believe that this tropical cocktail was invented in Polynesia, in fact, it comes straight from Oakland, California. It was in 1944 that Trader Vic, a figure of Tiki culture, wanted to create his own cocktail based on island rum. He decided to combine an old Jamaican rum with a little lemon juice and a subtle almond flavour. He then gave two Thai friends a taste of the delicious mixture. One of them, after enjoying the cocktail, raised his glass and said "mai tai roa ae" which means "the best in the world".

There is the Mai Tai amaretto team, and the real ones like us, the orgeat team. In Mai Tai, we put Bacardi Cuatro (an amber rum with notes of honey, vanilla and oak spices that has aged for 4 years in the tropical Caribbean climate), triple sec, a hint of Angostura, a spicy liqueur with orange peels, a little lemon juice and of course, orgeat syrup. Serve it in an old fashioned glass with a lemon wedge and a mint leaf and you're done!
With its name straight out of the tropics, Mai Tai will certainly be the star drink of the summer! To have a good time, there's nothing better than a fresh Mai Tai to enjoy on the terrace of Café Oz!
