The RWC2K19 under threat, the Blues in the quarter-finals!

The RWC2K19 under threat, the Blues in the quarter-finals!

Thursday, October 10, for the first time in the history of the competition, the #RWC president cancelled 2 games, the England-France "crunch" and the New Zealand-Italy duel, causing one of the biggest typhoons ever experienced by Japan.

Another match stirred up the media: the clash between Japan and Scotland. Because if this match were to be cancelled, Scotland would be automatically eliminated from the competition. Refusing this idea, the leaders of the Chandron Fifteen decided to file a complaint against the organizer if this decisive match for the Scots was cancelled. To avoid this complaint, the organizing committee said that a "thorough" analysis of the terrain on the path of the typhoon in Yokohama (suburbs of Tokyo) would be carried out after the disaster.

The cancellation of the two matches due to Typhoon Hagibis has led to many criticisms of World Rugby, whether by journalists, coaches or fans.

Our Blues

The Blues find themselves at the gates of the semi-finals because, as stipulated by the Rugby World Cup rules, when a match is cancelled, both teams automatically win 2 points. The XV of France is thus ranked 2nd in group C with 15 points, just behind the English.

Les Bleus arrived Friday morning in Oïta in the south of the archipelago where they will play their quarter-final on Sunday, October 20, possibly against Wales and have already started training.

Typhoon Hagibis

The Typhoon started as a tropical storm before turning into a category 5 typhoon in less than 24 hours. Until Thursday morning the organizing committee hoped that the typhoon would change course. Cancelled matches but not the only damage: the 15,500 fans from all over the world who came to support their teams are blocked in Japan. More than 1500 cancelled flights, rail service and high-speed trains cancelled all travel for Saturday. The Japanese Automobile Grand Prix, which was scheduled to take place on Saturday, October 12, has been postponed to Sunday morning if the circuit is practicable and will be followed by the race.
